Behind the Build: Our Star Home Remodel

Over the last several months, our team at Treasure Valley Remodel & Restoration has been working on something close to home - quite literally! We took on a full addition and whole-home remodel of my family’s house right here in Star! It’s been a very exciting, hands-on project that we, as a family, have poured our hearts into creating a space that reflects exactly what we love doing for our clients: warmth, craftsmanship, and thoughtful detail.

Like so many of the homeowners we work with, my husband and I found ourselves needing more space for our growing family - but with an incredible 3% mortgage rate, selling wasn’t the answer. After six months on the market, we decided to reimagine instead of relocate. Together with our TVRR family, we put pen to paper and began designing an addition that would give us room to breathe, gather, and grow - plus the opportunity to completely re-envision our kitchen and master suite to better fit our lifestyle.

From the start, this project has been a creative playground for our team - the perfect place to try new ideas, showcase custom details, and highlight the kind of craftsmanship that sets TVRR apart. We’ve added a few unique touches you’ll want to see for yourself: a custom keg bar, ambient toe-kick lighting, tile showers, handcrafted cabinetry, and more. Every corner of this home was designed to feel both luxurious and livable - a reflection of how we want our clients to feel in their own spaces.

Now that construction is nearly complete, we’re excited to open our doors and invite you in for an exclusive Open House to celebrate the project and the season:

Update 1: Design, Excavation, and Foundation

Every great project starts from the ground up — and ours was no exception. What began as a dream quickly turned into a blueprint once we put the design process to work. With Michael’s and my combined 40+ years of experience, we took what was once just a berm in our backyard and transformed it into a tiered outdoor space that made room for a two-story, 10-foot addition to our home.

In total, we added over 750 square feet of new living space — including a larger living room for entertaining, a cozy playroom, a dedicated home office, and an upgraded primary suite designed for a little extra breathing room and luxury.

The project kicked off in early spring, just after our daughter’s first birthday! We packed up, moved out, and watched as months of planning came to life — beginning with excavation and foundation work. Seeing those first walls take shape was the moment it all started to feel real.
